Hayley began her career as a professional actress. From here, her communication and interpersonal skills quickly led her to a career as a Recruitment Consultant with Blue Arrow. With her customer interfacing experience she worked as Customer and Sales support Manager for over 3 years with Courage Ltd and began her career in training more than 15 years ago. She was headhunted by Tiny Computers to take the role of Group Training Manager during their massive expansion into USA, Hong Kong and China.
During her time at Tiny Hayley was responsible for developing and implementing the training and development strategy for over 2000 members of staff. With her team of 20 trainers they provided a portfolio of over 60 courses world-wide.
A creative optimist, Hayley’s drive comes from a passionate belief that everyone should be encouraged to reach their potential - so benefiting the individual and the organisation through self motivated focused employees.
Her training has been described as ‘inspirational’ with her natural ability to quickly build rapport and develop successful business relationships with a diverse range of delegates and clients.
As a trainer Hayley has to believe 100% in her material, and that the theory can in practice be useful in the day to day reality of the commercial world. A successful manager herself, with over 10 years experience, she uses this experience to turn the theories into tangible examples her delegates can relate to.
She has an interactive relaxed style, able to quickly react to the individual needs of the group.
Some recent projects have included a 12 month modular team leadership development programme for Norbain. Each delegate has seen tangible benefits not just in terms of confidence and knowledge, in some cases promotion, but also in significant improvements to the structure of their departments and way it operates. Hayley has been training managers at Citrix for the past 3 years helping them to hone their presentation skills. She has had 100% success rate in terms of increasing skill and confidence in this area. In addition to this she has recently written and presented a number of training films as part of an ongoing management programme, for SSVC who provide TV, Radio broadcasting and entertainment to the British Forces.

William’s Fund
Help Save the Lives of Thousands of Children

William’s Fund was established in 2001 in commemoration of William Dodd, whose young life ended at the age of four years and nine months due to an unknown form of cancer. William’s Fund has since been raising money for the Childhood Cancer Research Fund and has raised over half a million pounds to date.
Dr Mitchell, who was William's consultant is running the research programme, which is very specific to Childhood Cancer, does not have any funding other than charity and has no official fundraisers. All the profits raised by William's Fund go directly to the research programme.
Will you join us as a partner committed to supporting research?
Supporting the William’s Fund would help to ensure that vital research into the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of childhood cancers will help save more children’s lives. As a result we hope to reduce the number of children who become fatalities of cancer and every penny of your support would go directly to funding this research, thus playing a pivotal role in saving and changing lives.
This Christmas
This Christmas we are again supporting the fantastic work done by Peter and Johanna Dodd in raising money for research into childhood cancers. Their son William died aged only four but was an inspiration to all who knew him. His grandmother produces a beautiful card every Christmas and the sale of these cards is a major fund raiser. You can also contribute to their funds by joining the William’s Fund Wine Club, buy some excellent champagne and wine, and know that you are making a direct contribution to their great work.

The role of a channel account manager has evolved to become more and more sophisticated. One of the challenges faced by vendors is to find the right calibre of channel account manager. Beyond basic selling skills, channel account managers need to be able to sell different kinds of products to different kinds of partners. Therefore, having the right channel account managers is fundamental. It is no longer a case of hiring someone who knows a few resellers or has experience working in distribution.
Vendors must behave as leaders who enable their channel partners to succeed. They need to build their partners’ success into their business model. The partner community has expressed a desire to work with vendors who have a committed channel programme, a clear vision and market position and who are not afraid of pushing the boundaries. Therefore, vendors have to understand what partners expect from their relationships with channel account managers and strive to meet their demands.
Investing in training is a good solution as long as it provides ROI. The ultimate goal for vendors in providing adequate support for their channel account managers is to win more business, generate more revenue and create more profit both for themselves and for their partners.
Drawing on quotes and anecdotal evidence reflecting the expectations of various resellers and distributors, this whitepaper introduces the three prime attributes needed to be a good channel account manager. The ideal channel account manager is simultaneously:
- a trusted advisor who focuses on the relationship with the partner, not the transaction
- a solutions champion who is not simply a product pusher but considers what products and services will do for a business
- a navigator who functions as a catalyst and linchpin within the organisation, being involved in its internal processes
Having defined these qualities, the whitepaper will outline the different skills needed to develop them and suggest plans and strategies that will help channel account managers achieve their full potential. Read more

All sorts of different queries come in about training and personal development. Here are two that appeared recently in the magazine:
"I am keen to develop a leadership initiative into our organisation. The current structure is very “hierarchical” and I am concerned that the current CEO is from the school of thought that believes “leaders are born, not made” from what he said the other day – what would you suggest to get him on side and to get a programme off the ground?" “We have a number of women in our company who are very good at what they do but who don’t have the confidence or bravado of some of their male colleagues. What do you suggest to help them be more confident – very often they have great ideas but lack the presentation skills and influencing skills to put these forward..” Read more

Bristow Group Inc is the world’s largest, most reliable and prestigious helicopter service for the oil and gas sector. It is understandably proud of its reputation as a provider of the safest and most efficient helicopter transportation, maintenance, search and rescue, aviation support and training services.
To maintain that reputation Bristow knows how important it is to attract and retain the highest calibre people. To make sure they had the right people in the right places at the right time they needed to make some changes. First, they wanted to ensure that they provided the right development opportunities for their own engineers and secondly they wanted to improve the quality of people management through a more rigorous selection process.
One of their key roles is that of Chief Engineer. In some of their more remote locations, the Chief Engineer is the most senior and sometimes the only manager presence. So not only does he/she need to have first class technical skills he needs to have sound judgement, leadership and technical skills. So first they put in place a programme to identify potential Chief Engineers, secondly they invested in a rigorous assessment process and from that were able to design and deliver a bespoke programme to bring each candidate up to the level of skill required.

With increasing pressure on the Probation Service to perform and meet stringent targets, the demands on management are many. Furthermore, constant change within the service has induced an element among staff of “change fatigue” - placing yet more pressure.
The aim of the Masterclass programme was to improve the leadership skills and practices within the service so it could deal with change more effectively, and change the management style from transactional (managers telling teams members what to do) to transformational (managers inspiring and motivating team members to perform more effectively).
Using the Kouzes and Posner Leadership Practices Inventory 360 degree feedback, each manager received one to one feedback and identified for themselves where they were strong and where they needed to make changes. Focusing on specific leadership behaviours they could take practical action in their own parts of the organisation. This was a big investment in time but it really made the difference.
“Through exercises in the workshops, we talk about creating a shared vision and how we can go about doing that. We work with them in groups to make it real for them,” said Isobel Rimmer, lead consultant on the programme. “We put a lot of pressure on people to do what they say they’re going to do in terms of improving their management performance. If they don’t do it, the responsibility is no one else’s – that message is driven home very firmly.”
Working in cross functional groups, the senior management and middle management teams then took part in a series of leadership workshops where they identified the skills, behaviours and practices that needed to be applied.

The inspiring video – Historia de un Letrero – was a prize winner at the Cannes Film Festival. Don’t worry you don’t have to be fluent in Spanish to understand this beautiful film made in Mexico. With a stroke of the pen, a stranger transforms the afternoon for another man in this emotionally stirring masterpiece. The music is beautiful too. We hope you enjoy it.
